A Couple More Chocolate and Oats Breakfast Recipe Suggestions

As you may know – chocolate and oats recipes are amongst my favorite recipes to create. I have a few other such recipes here on the blog.

One recipe that immediately comes to mind are these vegan chocolate oatmeal pancakes. It can’t get any better than a fluffy delicious stack of chocolate pancakes that taste just like brownies.

Another recipe I’m sure you’d want to try out is this amazing chocolate and oats breakfast brownie recipe. These brownies are deliciously gooey. Oh, and they contain some good-for-you ingredients, by the way!

Chocolate and Oats Together? Oh Yes..

While planning this healthy vegan chocolate oat waffle recipe – I wanted to test combining the texture of oats with the flavor of chocolate.

I had my fingers crossed while creating this recipe. I didn’t know how the oats would work in the waffles, but they actually turned out very good!

I chose to use quick-cooking oats in this healthy vegan chocolate and oat waffle recipe. I believe that was really the key to this recipe’s success.

I don’t think the larger size of rolled oats would’ve worked. They would’ve made the pancakes more chunkier – which isn’t what I wanted. But I’m sure you may want to try using rolled oats instead. Let me know how it goes!

Healthy Vegan Chocolate Oat Waffle Recipe Ingredients

These waffles just call for simple and basic ingredients:

  • All-Purpose Flour: Additionally, spelt flour would work in this recipe as well.
  • Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder is naturally fat-free and yet still manages to impart a chocolatey flavor.
  • Salt
  • Baking Powder
  • Cornstarch: Being that these waffles do not contain a large amount of oil or butter, I used cornstarch to add a light crispy texture.
  • Coconut Sugar: I just love using coconut sugar in most of my recipes, but you can use regular cane sugar as well.
I do appreciate that coconut sugar has a lower glycemic index than regular sugar. Even so, I make sure to not add too much to my recipes – as it’s still sugar.
  • Quick-Cooking Oats: You can try using regular rolled oats, but the smaller chewy texture of these oats is more recommended.
  • Dairy-Free Milk: Or you can choose to use regular milk as well. It’s just that I’ve become accustomed to using unsweetened almond milk in most of my recipes.
  • Vanilla Extract: It adds a subtle heightened flavor to these waffles. If you leave it out, your waffles will taste more bland.
  • Oil: I will sometimes use oil in a recipe, in order to add a little more flavor or enhance the overall texture.
But I usually only add it in small amounts. For this recipe, any mild oil will work such as vegetable or organic canola oil.

After trying out this healthy vegan chocolate oat waffle recipe for yourself, you’ll see why I’ve been raving about it. First of all, these waffles are full of healthy ingredients – and they’re also moist, chocolatey, and so delicious.

Recommended Toppings

Maple syrup and a little butter are the perfect toppings for these waffles. You can also top them with a bit of whipped cream and fresh strawberries for a special treat.
