Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar (optional – I just added in a bit to balance out the saltiness)
  • 1 /2 tbsp cold butter
  • 1/4 – 1/2 tsp garlic powder (use 1/4 tsp for a milder garlic flavor or use 1/2 tsp for a bit stronger garlic flavor)
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (start at 1/4 cup, but if you’d like more cheddar flavor – add 1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 cup and 2 1/2 tbsp milk (dairy-free or regular)

Instructions

  • In large bowl combine the flour, garlic powder (if using), baking powder, and salt thoroughly.
  • Cut the butter in by using a pastry blender or the back of a fork. *You can even use two knives if you have to – just use a see-saw motion to cut the butter in* The mixture should look like coarse crumbs..
  • Add in your preferred amount of shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Now add in the milk. Combine until a soft dough forms. Scoop out 1 1/2 tbsp of dough and add to parchment-lined baking sheet. *Should make around six – depending on the size*
  • Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes until browned to your liking. Brush with a little melted butter immediately after baking, if desired.
