Simple and Healthy

Most people nowadays (including myself) are more health conscious. In fact, they’re looking to create simple healthy meals that don’t take long to prepare. Moreover, they want those meals and foods to taste good as well.

There’s just simply not always enough time to make a larger cake. And furthermore, there’s not always someone else to share it with. That’s where mug cakes come in.

Mug cakes are yummy and the perfect size for one person or even two just by doubling the ingredients. In addition; the fun part is that you’re actually eating cake, just a miniature one.

Ingredients Needed

  • Spelt flour: I aforementioned in a previous post that I love using spelt flour. It’s like a lighter version of whole wheat flour and it has a mild caramel-like flavor.
  • Whole wheat flour: I love its wholesome whole-grain flavor and nutritional value. For instance, in this recipe; I decided to combine the two flours – and it resulted in this delicious mug cake!
  • Salt
  • Light Brown Sugar: I felt that the caramel flavor of this sugar would go well with this cake, and it did!
  • Baking powder
  • Dairy-free or regular mini chocolate chips: We can’t leave these out, can we? Undoubtedly not!
  • Almond butter: Any nut butter should work well as a substitute.
  • Milk: This recipe is pretty versatile, therefore dairy-free or regular milk can be used.

I would love to hear from you if you tried this healthy mug cake recipe out. It’s helpful for a recipe creator to get feedback on a recipe, so that he or she can know what needs to be tweaked or worked on to make it better.
