How It Tastes..

When you put tuna together with the creamy texture of mashed avocado, there’s a flavor explosion like no other. I thought about mashing the avocado in with the tuna, but decided to layer them instead.

I think it’s better this way, actually. You can taste the combination of flavors and textures from both the tuna and the avocado.

I also thought about just slicing the avocado, and adding it to the sandwich like that. In the end, I thought it would be better mashed. And it is, quite so..

Avocado – The Perfect Sandwich Accompaniment in More Ways Than One

I’ve only in the last couple of days reintroduced avocado back into my diet. I was on an avocado kick about a year ago, and fell off till very recently.

But I’m back on the avocado train now, and I can’t understand how I fell off in the first place. I’m trying to stick it out for the long haul now. Especially knowing how good for you avocados are! And so delish.

Beside this super quick and tasty tuna avocado sandwich, you can use avocado in deli sandwiches even. The creamy buttery texture it adds is amazing and so yum:)

How to Test Avocados Before Buying

Avocados are sold in many grocery stores nowadays. I usually buy mine organic from Whole Foods Market.

I recommend that you buy organic avocados, because they’re not treated with pesticides or other toxic chemicals. And they don’t cost much more than the non-organic ones.

*The Feel Test*

I learned the hard way that you need to test an avocado before buying it. As in, making sure it’s ripe and ready to be used right away or soon thereafter.

Most unripe avocados are bright green and unyielding when applying a little pressure to them. If you buy them in this state, it will take a few days before you can actually use them in anything.

On the other hand, a ripe and ready to use avocado is typically a more brownish color. And it gives (feels soft) when you apply very light pressure to it. This avocado is ready to use straightaway.

How to Cut An Avocado Open

All avocados contain a large pit in the middle. But it’s pretty easy to cut one open though.

All you need to do is take a knife and slice straight down till you feel the pit. Position the knife again just before it hits the pit.

Then slice down the entire avocado until it’s cut all the way around (without cutting into the pit). Now, you should be able to twist off the two halves of the avocado; and scoop out the pit.

Then remove the insides. Super easy..
